Pacific Wireless was formed by the management team that had built one of Australia's earliest Internet Service Providers. In 1997, after successfully building a traditional ISP, the founders began to plan the creation of a telecommunications network that provided a better alternative to the "last mile" problem. Early deployments of wireless services were so successful that a standalone entity was launched and Pacific Wireless was born.
